Samsung T7 Touch SSD: the new benchmark for external storage devices
Samsung's new external SSD combines ultra-fast transfer speeds with data protection using fingerprint readers. Easy to use, it is a case as elegant as the resistor.
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced the launch of its new SSD (solid-state drive), the T7 Touch, which combines elegant and compact design with the fastest transfer speeds on the market (based on USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard). The latest addition to the SSD range, available in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB, emphasizes data security with its integrated fingerprint reader.
The T7 Touch SSD makes it possible to securely store a large number of pictures, games or videos in 4K, like 8K, and access them from a PC, tablet, smartphone, or console. Resistant to fall to a height of two meters. It is strong enough to carry its contents everywhere with it.
With its experience designing storage solutions, Samsung offers a read speed of 1.05 GB / s and a write speed of 1 GB /s with the T7 Touch. It is therefore twice as fast as its predecessor, the T5, and 9.5 times faster than traditional external HDDs. To reach its maximum speed, the device must be used with the NVMe interface.
The T7 Touch is the first SSD equipped with an integrated fingerprint reader, which is equipped with password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption. It also has an LED display that indicates power on, the device unlocks and data transfer. Despite the considerable increase in performance, hardware additions and its metal case, the T7 Touch weigh just 58 grams.
Available in Black or Silver from January 2020, the T7 Touch comes with USB Type-C to C and USB Type-C to A cables and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Android operating systems.
The T7 SSD, which offers similar functionality, will be available in May 2020, except for the fingerprint reader.
