Sarwar Malik Correspondent, * THE CAMPAIGN TO BRING OPEN DEFECATION TO AN END REMAINS ABORTIVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY* There might be a significant increase in sanitation facilities and usage of toilets in rural areas of India but it can not be taken as a success of the campaign. The success depends on the availability of water as well as behavioral changes of the people in the rural areas. Because of certain obvious reasons the country has still a long way to go in achieving 'ODF (Open Defecation Free)' status. Simply announcement about achieving 'ODF' might deceive the people or enthuse those who are unaware of the meaning of 'ODF' but the saner minds understand how much still remains to be accomplished. We should avoid to make false presentation of the nation in the international arena.
