Amitabh Bachchan honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2019
Indian cinema veteran Amitabh Bachchan was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2019, the nation's highest cinema honor, for his contribution to cinema. Amitabh Bachchan was bestowed this honor by President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi.

Amitabh Bachchan started his film career in 1969 with the film 'Saat Hindustani'. He made a lot of great films in his career.
He has been awarded the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. In 2007 the French government awarded him the highest civilian honor, "The Knight of the Legion of Honor". He has so far won 4 National Awards and 15 Filmfare Awards.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award
This award is given to a person for his lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. The award began in 1969, the year of Dada Saheb Phalke's birth centenary. The person honored with this award is given 10 lakh rupees and Swarna Kamal. The award was first presented to Devika Rani.
